Epson Maintenance Box Full: What It Means

An Epson maintenance box stores surplus ink from cleaning and maintenance. If your printer says the maintenance box is full or near full, match the exact box part number for your model before buying, and do not confuse it with ink bottles.

The waste ink needs somewhere to go
A maintenance box collects ink used during cleaning and other maintenance. Refilling the main tanks will not make room in it.
Read the wording carefully: a nearly-full warning gives you time to identify the right replacement; a full message may prevent further printing or cleaning.
Work through these checks
- Write down the exact message and full printer model.
- Find the model’s maintenance-box section and its part number. Do not infer fit from a box that looks similar.
- Check whether the manual describes replacement by the owner. Some waste-ink systems need service.
- If owner replacement is supported, follow the illustrated removal and installation instructions, including handling and disposal precautions.
What the result tells you
After replacement, check that the warning clears and print one ordinary page. If a correctly installed new box is not recognized, contact Epson or the supplier before buying another.
A reset utility does not remove waste ink. Keep counter-reset downloads out of this repair.
